Youth hockey can be a very intimidating sport to start your child on. There’s a lot of hockey equipment you need to buy, your child needs to know how to ice skate, there are many intricate rules, and of course the body slamming in hockey causes injuries.

Fortunately, the body slamming has been resolved. Pee Wee Hockey in the USA has banned checking. Most hockey parents are relived but some Minnesotans are not happy with the checking ban. Those hockey parents need to relax!

As for the rest of the hockey complexities, those can be easily resolved by parenting your school-age hockey player and following the simple rules for hockey parents everywhere.
